Entertainment Alternatives in Springfield, MA

Springfield is the home to Theodore Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, and is also the birthplace of basketball, invented by James Naismith at Springfield College. Springfield, MA is home to the Basketball Hall of Fame and the Springfield Falcons hockey team.

The Quadrangle is a grouping of museums and sculpture gardens, located in the heart of Springfield, MA. Four museums, the city's central library, and the National Dr. Seuss Memorial are all located facing a small park at the corner of State and Chestnut Streets, on the edge of city's downtown district. The Quadrangle features two art museums, a local history museum, and a science museum.

Bright Nights is a cultural attraction during the Christmas season. Forest Park is decorated with lights in the form of various characters and scenes, some of which are animated, including some from the works of Springfield native Dr. Seuss. Tourists drive their cars along a meandering path through the park. It is a beautiful and incredible event, and should be marked on everyone's calenders as a 'must see'!

CityStage and Symphony Hall offer concerts, off-Broadway productions, children's programming, and guest speakers.
