The city is home to a number of the country's better museums. No matter your tastes, you will be able to find something that suits your interests. From the Springfield Armory to the old industrial spaces downtown, there are numerous activities to consider downtown. If you would like to take part in an adult hockey tournament in the middle of the summer or go for a swim in the middle of the winter, Springfield can accommodate you.

If you are planning on staying in the city on a temporary basis, you can find a number of activities and events that will entertain and enlighten you while you are here. The city is home to a number of seasonal workers and those taking part in temporary foreign worker programs. For the sports lover, there is professional hockey, baseball and volleyball (Springfield and it's neighbouring town, Holyoke, are the birthplace of volleyball).

Seasonal workers in the city's agriculture and manufacturing sectors are a vital part of the economy. They support local businesses and are, themselves, very often a local retailer's store-front staffers. If you are looking for part-time or temporary work in Springfield, you may find yourself selling anything from aquarium decorations at a local pet shop or spa packages at one of our many nearby resorts. Be sure to visit the Symphony Hall, CityStage, Eastern States Exposition and Forest Park.

Whether you are in Springfield to vacation at one of our fine hotels or to spend the summer selling the latest iPhone pouches, you should be sure to visit the city's basketball landmarks. The Springfield College campus recently opened The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame (basketball was also invented in Springfield in the late nineteenth century by James Naismith, a Canadian physical education teacher at the Springfield YMCA).

People visit Springfield for any number of reasons and via any number of means. Whether you have been saving for a family outing for the summer or holiday months, or have just won a car sweepstakes contest and are looking to splurge on a bit of shopping and relaxation, you will find a town rich with cultural offerings. Springfield's orchestra and theater district are complimented by it's fine dining. Springfield has held onto strong ethnic traits which are evident in the array of restaurants available throughout the city.

Between basketball, being the home of Dr Seuss and innovations in manufacturing, Springfield is a city of firsts. It is a city of parks and recreation, with cottage, farm and country life available to visitors and residents alike.
